Dental Exams and Cleanings

A dental exam and cleaning is a preventive visit where a dentist or dental hygienist checks your teeth, gums and soft tissues, removes plaque and tartar, and screens for early signs of decay, gum disease and oral cancer.

Who may need this service

  • Adults due for a six-month checkup
  • Children needing their first dental visit by age one
  • Patients who notice tartar build-up or bleeding gums
  • Anyone overdue after a long break from dental visits

Signs and symptoms

  • Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Visible plaque or yellowing along the gum line
  • Mild tooth sensitivity to cold or sweet foods

Treatment process

  1. Step 1

    Medical and dental history review

We update your file with current medications, allergies and any concerns since your last visit.

  2. Step 2

    Examination

The dentist evaluates teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints and soft tissues, and screens for oral cancer.

  3. Step 3

    X-rays when indicated

Digital X-rays are taken only when clinically needed to detect issues between or below teeth.

  4. Step 4

    Scaling and polishing

Plaque and tartar are removed above and below the gum line, followed by polishing.

  5. Step 5

    Personalised home-care plan

We review brushing, flossing and any aids that fit your situation.
