Tooth Extractions

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that cannot be saved or that is causing harm. We always discuss replacement options before extracting a tooth, except in true emergencies.

Who may need this service

  • Severe decay or fracture beyond repair
  • Advanced gum disease that has loosened the tooth
  • Severely impacted or abscessed teeth

Treatment process

  1. Step 1

    Examination and X-ray

We confirm extraction is the most predictable option.

  2. Step 2

    Treatment planning

We review replacement options — implant, bridge or denture — before treatment.

  3. Step 3

    Numbing and removal

Local anaesthetic is given; the tooth is removed gently.

  4. Step 4

    Aftercare instructions

Written instructions are provided to support healing and prevent dry socket.

Benefits

  • Resolves pain and infection
  • Stops decay or gum disease from spreading
  • Allows a planned replacement to follow

Recovery and aftercare

  • Bite firmly on gauze for 30–45 minutes after the appointment
  • Avoid spitting, smoking and straws for 24 hours
  • Soft, cool foods on the first day
